报告题目:A gamma-signal-regulated connected components labeling algorithm

报告摘要:

Connected components labeling (CCL) is a key operation in image processing and pattern recognition. It detects and distinguishes different objects in digital images, enabling smarter and deeper analysis. CCL has many applications, such as Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CADx), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), object tracking, and computer surveillance. In this talk, Dr. Zhang will present an advanced connected components labeling (CCL) approach that introduces a gamma signal to record certain mask pixels’ values to eliminate duplicated pixel checking and regulate the labeling process for higher efficiency. A new block-based two-scan CCL algorithm, Eight-Connected Gamma-Signal-regulated (ECGS) algorithm, was developed by applying this approach and published in Pattern Recognition.

报告人简介:

Dr. Danyang Zhang received his Bachelor degree in Information Science from Beijing University and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Alabama. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at York College of The City University of New York (CUNY). He is also a doctoral faculty in the Department of Computer Science (Ph.D. program) at the Graduate Center of CUNY. His research interests include pattern recognition, image processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer networks, sensor networks, and pervasive computing. He has numerous publications in prestigious journals and international conferences.
